My blog post about this adorable sloth romper is live over on Minerva Crafts today! I still can’t get over how much I love this fabric. It features sweet, sleepy little sloths that CHANGE COLOR in the sunlight! I had heard of glow-in-the-dark fabric before, but I had no idea such a thing as UV-Reactive fabric existed prior to falling in love with this fabric! Seriously – how cool is that??

I wanted a simple silhouette for this fabric that would really show off how great this fabric is, but it also needed to be something appropriate for the hot Texas summers (because I clearly couldn’t leave this fabric cooped up indoors!!). I chose to go with the Grow With Me Romper, a recent release from Simple Life Pattern Company in partnership with Bernina. This is a FREE pattern that ranges in size from newborn to 5T, and it is a super quick and easy sew!
I foresee many more of these sweet rompers in our future. I will note that if you have a potty-training kiddo, this is probably an ideal pattern – all one piece, easy to shimmy and stretch up and down all by yourself! However, with a diaper baby like mine, it means getting completely nakey with each diaper change! This wasn’t a game changer for us, but I know it could be for some. I am sure it would be easy enough to hack some snaps into the legs, though!
The pattern calls for a lining and leg cuffs, which offer a great opportunity for pops of color or even some fun pattern mixing! I chose to use this lilac double brushed polyester from So Sew English Fabrics – it was already sitting waiting on my shelf, and coordinated perfectly with the colors that appear on my slth fabric in the sunlight! It was a match made in heaven. Unfortunately, this particular color of that fabric is no longer available, but they have an extensive list of other colors and prints that you can find here on their website!
Head over to the Minerva Blog to check out a more detailed post on my thoughts on both this great fabric and pattern! What would you make out of this crazy cool fabric???
