At the end of each year, I like to make a little plan for what I might want to make in the upcoming year. I love planning and list making, and I find this has been a fun way to motivate myself! The first couple of years that I did this, I did the classic “Make Nine” plan, and I found that after some time I would find my style or wardrobe needs changing in a way that made the ideas I’d first had not applicable, or I’d find that rather than searching within the things I already had, I’d use a pattern choice on my Make Nine list as an excuse to buy more fabric!

I’ve lost track of how many garments I’ve sewn with the Minerva Exclusive line of viscose challis since their release this summer, but what I CAN tell you is that I’m not going to be done any time soon! Today, I’m excited to show you our matching spooky-season outfits.
My baby girl is 4 (well, yesterday)! And of course, we have a new dress to celebrate the occasion! While a new birthday outfit has been a standard since she was born, last year was the first year that she really got involved with telling me how she wanted her outfit to look (see last year’s special request dress and bell-bottom set!). This year, she came with two requests again – a comfy knit dress, and a “twirly” dress. She picked the knit fabric earlier in the year during a trip to JoAnn, but we made a special trip to choose what she wanted for the “twirly” dress. This girl loves all things Nightmare Before Christmas, so I chose a week when the licensed character fabrics were on sale, assuming that she’d pick something Jack and Sally-related. She surprised me with her fabric choice, but I love it just as much as she does! A tossed print featuring the sugar skulls of the Coco characters!
So, today is Mother’s Day so it feels perfectly appropriate to be posting these cutie pie mama / mini matching outfits… From her 3rd Birthday. Back in October… We’re only a little behind on this one! 🙂
