Sewing a Maternity Naomi Maxi Dress with Minerva

Ever since I had the opportunity to travel through Italy and Spain, I’ve loved olive leaves. In person, Olive Trees are so beautiful – the colors are unusual and catch my eye every time, and the leaves are so small and dainty. When I saw this olive leaf print from Art Gallery Fabrics, I knew I wanted it in my wardrobe. The color palette is so pretty – though I’ve still not been quite able to figure out my own personal color palette, I do always find that I feel great about the way greens look on me, and I find myself drawn to them. This print has a great balance of bright and muted tones, and I feel like it is lovely for summer.

Geometric Maternity Dress with Minerva

I’ve seen so many pregnant ladies looking very cute in midi-length tank dresses, so I reached out in a Maternity Sewing Group on Facebook to ask what patterns some of the sewists there had loved for similar silhouettes. I came back with a few great ideas, one of them being the Made for Mermaids Ruby Dress! This one caught my eye originally because of the cute, thinner straps… But also because many of those who suggested it confirmed that they or their loved one comfortably wore this dress through much of pregnancy without any maternity modifications! Twist Back Sweatshirt with Minerva

I sewed this sweatshirt up about a year ago and shared it over on the Minerva website, but I wasn’t sure that I would ever post it here on my own blog. These photos are from right after we went into the first round of COVID lockdowns, and looking back at these photos brings back the anxiety and out of place feelings I had at the time. I didn’t feel like myself and was just trying to hold it all together from day to day! However, I still really like this sweatshirt as a comfy and cute piece to wear at home, so I figured it deserves a second to shine here!

Raspberry Creek Fabrics Swim Tour – #SuitUpForSummer2021

It’s SWIM WEEK over at Raspberry Creek Fabrics, and I am so excited to have been a part of the blog tour this year. Sewing my own swimwear has been a goal of mine for quite a while – it feels like such an intimidating thing to tackle! Back in 2020, I took some direction from Gretchen Rubin and created a “20 in 2020” goal list. Sewing my own swimwear was included in that list, but of course, the summer turned out to look VERY different than I’d anticipated and the idea totally lost its luster. So when the opportunity came to be a part of the RCF Swim Tour this year, I jumped on it! This was the perfect opportunity for me – the deadline meant no excuses, so I couldn’t chicken out and decide that swimwear was too daunting. And the amazing colors and prints in RCF’s swim line this year meant I was THRILLED about what I was making!
