M8044 Buttoned Skirt for McCall’s Month at Minerva!

McCall’s patterns are being featured on the Minerva website this month, and I had the pleasure of participating by sewing up McCall’s 8044 (also known as #JamieMcCalls), a new-to-me skirt pattern. I had been looking for a skirt pattern with some fun details in a simple silhouette for this cupro blend I’d purchased at the end of 2021. I’d originally imagined something fitted through the hips and looser below, similar to the silhouette of the skirt of the Closet Core Patterns Pauline Dress, but this pattern caught my eye and I decided to give it a go.

Paper Doll Patterns Ada Dress

Last summer, as I was nearing the end of my pregnancy, Emma reached out to me on behalf of her company, Paper Doll Patterns. Based out of New Zealand, Paper Doll Patterns specializes in sewing patterns for babies and toddlers, and had recently released the Ada Top & Dress pattern – the adult complement to their much loved Ava pattern for little ones. I had not heard of the company before, but as I browsed their website, I loved the aesthetic. Emma offered to let me try out the Ada Pattern, and I was on board right away – the dress is very cute, breastfeeding friendly, and has some very fun skirt and ruffle options!

New Look 6438 Pants with Minerva

These pants are one of those projects that have been on my mind for quite some time, but I’ve just never had all the right pieces at the right time! I’ve been holding on to this soft, lovely Tencel Twill for 2 or 3 years, waiting for the perfect pant pattern to come across my radar. I purchased the fabric after my first experience working with Tencel Twill as part of the StyleMaker Fabrics blog tour a couple of years ago, and falling in love with the substrate! I envisioned this fabric being used for a pair of pants that would look professional but still be comfortable and stylish enough to wear regularly.
