Was there ever a more perfect time for a matchy-matchy lounge set than in the season of social distancing and stay home orders? I would say no. So here I am, serving isolation chic.
I have wanted these natural denim Persephone Pants for SO LONG you guys. I am constantly scrolling through the Persephone Pants hashtag on Instagram and making lovey eyes at all of the awesome pairs that all the other sewists in the world have made. I love the interesting balance of the tapered waist and the wide leg pant, and I’ve been so intrigued by the way this pattern comes together – no side seams!
While I don’t often buy ready to wear clothing anymore, I still hop online from time to time and see what is going on in some of my old favorite stores. I was browsing the website of one of my favorite little boutiques on our downtown square recently and saw some of the cutest sweater knit loungewear sets. Of course, loungewear has totally been having a moment this year, but most of the matching sets that I’d seen were made of french terry or sweatshirt fleece. I’d never considered using a sweater knit for pants, and I was eager to try it out!
At the start of 2019, pants were still a super daunting sewing endeavor in my mind. It just seemed like so much more work to fit flat fabric to the curves of my hips, waist and bum than it did to sew a dress or top that could flow over my shape. However, I really pushed out of my comfort zone and sewed quite a few pairs of pants last year! These are my fanciest pants of 2019, which I love even more now than when I first made them. Check out the great fabric!!
