Matching Family Outfits using a Repurposed Old Button Down Shirt

Last summer, I had a little fun sewing up Father’s Day presents for my husband and his brother. Early in the Spring, I recognized that I had somehow ended up with a small collection of button down shirts from my husband and his brother that had ripped, torn, or otherwise worn out in a way that was no longer usable. I’d kept them to the side, thinking that someday it would be fun to use the fabric to make something new. As I was poking around looking for what I might make next, I came across these old shirts and realized that I had a great opportunity!

The number of holiday parties on my agenda this year was a hot zero, though, so glitz and glam just didn’t seem necessary. Flannel Winter Mini Skirt with Raspberry Creek Fabrics

I’ve really been on a roll with knits lately, but when I saw this beautiful flannel I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make something a little bit out of the norm! I’ve always loved flannel, but have never been drawn to wearing button-up tops, so I’ve never been quite sure what to sew with flannel! I have used flannel with a couple of other patterns since I first sewed the Camden Skirt, but I felt like this was simply a perfect pairing. I pulled out my favorite pattern for flannel and got to work!
