My husband loves to tell my daughter that she is stinky – it’s their favorite joke with each other. They tell each other that they are stinky and then they both just fall into a fit of giggles. It’s great. Once, he told her that she was so stinky that she smelled like skunk meat… Which she thoroughly loved, and started to call herself “Scumpy” in response. Every now and then, she proudly tells me “Mama, I’m Scumpy!” Thanks, Dad. So this pinky-red, critter-printed knit covered in skunks was the perfect choice for a Valentine’s Day outfit!
I’ve really been on a roll with knits lately, but when I saw this beautiful flannel I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to make something a little bit out of the norm! I’ve always loved flannel, but have never been drawn to wearing button-up tops, so I’ve never been quite sure what to sew with flannel! I have used flannel with a couple of other patterns since I first sewed the Camden Skirt, but I felt like this was simply a perfect pairing. I pulled out my favorite pattern for flannel and got to work!
