Today marks the 8th Sew My Style reveal day, which means that we are officially ⅔ through this year! That is CRAZY! Even though it is very much still summertime here in Texas, the rest of the northern hemisphere is beginning to transition into autumn, making the Halifax Hoodie the perfect wardrobe addition. I absolutely love my version, so you will find me rocking it indoors in the AC with shorts for the next month or so still!
As you may be aware (because I may or may not be a little obnoxious around this time each year), August is my birth month! Over the last two years, I have started a tradition of spending the month of August sewing up beautiful things as a birthday gift to myself. This year has been no different, aside from the fact that most of my garments are stretchy and comfy this year!
As my belly continues to grow, I find myself searching for sewing resources geared towards pregnant mama’s. Recently, this search led me to a great Facebook group geared towards ladies like me – sewists who don’t want to quit their hobby but find themselves in a much different shape than normal! One of my favorite finds within this group so far has been Ellie and Mac Patterns, an indie pattern company I’ve not heard of previously but that have lots of super cute and trendy patterns. Best of all, many of their knit patterns don’t even require a maternity hack to be baby bump friendly!! See how I got myself wedding guest ready, despite having nothing in my closet that fit!
Today is my birthday!! And to celebrate my 28th year, I’ll be wearing this beautiful new Summer Day Top… As well as giving a copy of the pattern away to one of my awesome followers! This pattern is the newest from the Made Everyday pattern collection, designed by the lovely Dana Willard (who you may be familiar with from her beautiful fabric design lines with Art Gallery fabrics!). The top is super versatile, with three different sleeve options, two different lengths, and two different shapes (boxy top vs. peplum)… And all can combine to make a million cute versions. Even better, thanks to the multitude of options, you can make this pattern in almost any fabric and come up with a totally different look. This really is the perfect pattern for summer.
