In 2019, I had the opportunity to work with sequined fabric for the first time. I was so excited, but also a little terrified to check this cool fabric off of my sewing bucket list! I mean, what does one even DO with all of those itty bitty sequins!? I was thrilled with the opportunity, though, and ended up creating a super fun New Year’s Eve dress… and decided that working with sequins wasn’t that scary after all! So of course, I did it again.

Can you believe that I MADE this gorgeous sequined dress? The full details of this make are over on the Minerva Blog today, but I wanted to take a quick moment here on my own blog to talk about sewing with sequins! This was something that seemed very daunting to me, and ended up being no. big. thing. So I thought I would walk you through my process. (PS – I do NOT claim to be any sequin sewing expert, and it is entirely plausible that I had beginner’s luck with this one! But I’m sharing my experience nonetheless. And also hoping it wasn’t beginner’s luck, because my second sequin fabric arrived in the mail yesterday!!).
