It’s RECAP time! I sewed up SIX stash fabrics over the last two months, which I’m super happy about! My July sewing seemed a little slow, as I started my first ever pair of jeans about halfway through, but once I powered through that awesome project I was very productive throughout August! I had the luxury of taking some time off around my birthday, and just sit in my sewing room for an entire day and make stuff, which I haven’t done in many many months. It felt so great, and was the perfect birthday gift to myself. I also brought you guys in on the birthday fun by hosting a pretty awesome giveaway!! It was a super great couple of months, and here’s the outcome:
I first discovered the world of garment sewing while on the search for a particular, sold-out dress – a V-Neck woven dress with a solid bodice and a great, novelty print skirt. Despite becoming an avid sewist, I never did attempt to recreate that particular dress, partially because I’ve STILL been searching for the ideal V-Neck dress pattern!! I’ve been sewing Athina’s patterns for quite a while now, and for some reason I just had not taken the time to sew the Lisa dress. When she contacted me to let me know that she’d be hosting an entire month of sewists focusing on the Lisa and Kimberly dresses, I knew I couldn’t say no – it was the perfect opportunity to sew up a V-Neck dress. Would this finally be the one??
Can you believe this fabric sat on my shelf for 7 months before I finally sewed it up into this dress? I ordered this fabric when I was in my first trimester, and planned to make it into this Lodo Dress. I didn’t intend to make any maternity modifications – if you are new to my blog, go back to some of my maternity posts to learn more about that! – and when I finally had the time to sew this, I realized that this fabric didn’t have enough give to fit comfortably over my belly! So I abandoned that plan for another time. Here’s how it turned out, many months later!!
Happy March!! I’ve decided that this year, as a way to step back and recognize what I’ve made and make sure I’m on track with some of my sewing goals this year, I am going to do a little recap blog post every couple of months! I’m really looking forward to these! If you follow along with my stories on Instagram, you may be familiar with some of my plans and goals for 2019 sewing. I started putting these goals into action as soon as the new year started, and here’s a little rundown of how my first two month segment turned out!
