Pink Faux Fur Coat #M7257

December 30, 2020

Boy, oh boy, was this coat a challenge!

Let me clarify. Not a particularly crazy sewing challenge, but I hit one hundred obstacles in the making process. The pattern I wanted was sold out, I finally found it but only in the wrong size, the fabric was daunting when it arrived and I decided maybe I just need to pet it instead of sewing it, I had no idea what I was doing, and then when I finally FINALLY got around to actually making it, I couldn’t find any time to actually get photos of it so I could start wearing it ASAP, and once I was finally photographed and done and it was too warm outside to wear this luxurious thing!!

As far as actual sewing goes, this was a fun challenge! I’d made a couple of coats in the past, but this was by far the most extensive coat-making project I’d taken on. The fur needed to be cut and trimmed in a special way (see the full blog post on Minerva for my trimming tips!), it was fully lined with a slippery rayon bemberg lining, and it was BULKY to get through my sewing machine! But man, I pushed through and made it happen and now I can say that I own a pink faux fur coat and I made that bad boy MYSELF.

How stinking cool is that? Sewing is the coolest hobby.

We had a little fun taking this coat out for photos after what felt like months of it hanging and waiting, and I indulged my husband a little by letting him take some photos with our car, as well.

This was one of the more fun photo shoots I’d done in a while – lots of fun, silly bloopers and fun poses, like my dorky ridiculous hand crown.

This coat that didn’t want to be has finally come full circle, and is up on the Minerva Blog this morning! I’d love for you to head over that way and read all of the details 🙂 This was surely a labor of love, but now I can prance around like a fancy lady in my fur coat on cold days, and i am ALL about that 🙂
