As a member of the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Promo Team, I had the pleasure of picking out a couple of yards of any of their fabrics to work with this month. This double brushed poly caught my eye right away. I fell in love with the colors and print immediately, and the fabric paired with this pattern are a match made in comfy Thanksgiving outfit heaven!
Can you believe that I sewed this dress back in August 2019 and I am only just now getting it posted? Whoops. However, this would be a beautiful dress to wear to a nice Thanksgiving dinner, so it worked out alright. Still seasonally appropriate!
Fibre Mood Magazine Issue 12 launches today, and I’m so excited to have been included in an amazing group of sewists who got to try out a pattern from the magazine ahead of time to help promote and show you what you can look forward to in this issue. As I’ve grown to expect with Fibre Mood patterns, this skirt pattern is lovely, was easily constructed, and although a circle skirt is nothing new or groundbreaking, this one has a couple nice little details that I loved.
It took me a long time to realize that making basics could be fun. Party dresses and novelty prints are my jam ALL. DAY. LONG. But solids and basics… Not so much. I always felt like I wanted to solely spend my sewing time creating beautiful special pieces and I was more than comfortable supplementing my closet with store bought basics. The longer I’ve been making my own clothes, though, the less inclined I feel to buy anything at a store. I feel proud to wear things I’ve made, and I find that no matter what, I reach almost exclusively for the me-made items rather than anything I’ve purchased.
