My very first Hallon Dress

I can hardly believe this is my very first Hallon Dress. I have been oohing and aahing over this dress on social media for SO long, but without a clear plan I didn’t want to purchase the pattern and just let it sit idly in my downloads folder.  At the end of 2021, I had the pleasure of testing the Smultron Dress, and Sanna ever so kindly offered me a copy of the Hallon Dress in return once testing completed. I obviously eagerly accepted, and when I began planning out my monthly stash-busting makes I knew one would need to be a Hallon.

A Leona Dress – 8 years in the making!

Oh my goodness. This is my April 2022 stash-busting project, featuring one of the first fabrics I purchased online, which prompted me to search through my email inbox to find the invoice and figure out exactly when that was… I learned today that it looks like I started playing around with sewing in 2014! FibreMood Magazine Issue 19 – The Vanya Top and some big sleeve energy!

Issue 19 of FibreMood Magazine came out last week!! I had the chance to sew one of the patterns ahead of time again, and this time I chose the Vanya. This is a really cool pattern – I was very drawn to the dress option, but I am constantly recognizing a need for tops in my closet so was very excited that this one came with a top option included! The overall idea of this pattern is a figure accentuating, princess-seamed pattern with a squared off neckline and BIG poofy sleeves. The dress option features a side zip and a great side slit. The top has a zipper that is inserted to separate fully at the hem, which I really like.

A Picture Day Dress for the Little Girl – custom picked by her!

When the little girl’s Picture Day was coming up, we headed straight into the sewing room to check out our options. I started to pull down a few things that I thought she might like, and her little eyes LIT UP when I grabbed this one. This was a small cut, maybe ½ yard, of cotton that had been sent to me as a gift when I placed an order with D&H Fabrics a couple of years ago. I thought it was so adorable, but never quite knew what I might use it for. I’m so glad I held onto it, because this little girl came up with some excellent plans. Doggy fabric for the win! I pulled out a couple of options for coordinates, and just like her mama at that age, she set her sights on the hot pink. Decisions were made, and now it was up to me to deliver!
